ARTIST STATEMENT
“when I look out at the world around me
from the world within me”
When I gaze at the world around me, I am simultaneously looking inward, into the depths of my own being.
From this introspective space, a vivid tapestry of colours, forms, and lines emerges, coalescing into abstract images that echo the whispers of my subconscious. My creative process can begin with a pencil or brush—traditional or digital—as I explore freely, allowing my hand to move intuitively until something on the surface resonates with my emotions or vision. This act of creation becomes a bridge between my inner world and the external reality, a way to explore and express the complexities of the human condition.
My work is deeply influenced by the pains of a troubled childhood, the turbulence of coming of age, and the ongoing challenges of adulthood. These experiences are conveyed through vibrant colours, dynamic forms, and fluid lines that retain a childlike quality, as if my inner child is reaching out, yearning to be heard. In this way, my art becomes a form of healing, a way to process and make sense of my past and present.
Living in the fast-paced, ever-changing city of London, I find inspiration in the works of artists like Miró, Picasso, Kandinsky, and Mondrian, who embraced a sense of playfulness and childlike expression in their art. Their influence, combined with my desire to understand the world both around and within me, fuels my creative journey. Through my art, I seek to actualize the truth of my existence, uncover the layers of my identity, and connect with others on a profound level.
While my artistic exploration may appear self-reflective, it is ultimately a shared experience. My goal is for viewers to immerse themselves in my work, and to find their truths within the colours, forms, and lines. I hope to spark visions, memories, and emotions that lead to deeper conversations about the complexities of our existence—the beauty, the chaos, and everything in between.
In essence, my art is a unique language, a visual narrative that tells the story of my life while inviting others to reflect on their own. It is an invitation to explore the depths of our shared humanity, to find meaning in the interplay of light and shadow, and to celebrate the enduring resilience of the human spirit.
